The CBI team is making steady progress on the Luna Solar Site in Mendota, California — one of our latest renewable energy projects aimed at supporting clean power infrastructure in the region.
When our crews first arrived on site, the land was covered in tall grass and home to wildlife like snakes and coyotes. Today, it’s well on its way to becoming a fully operational solar facility. Our team has already completed the substation and two laydown yards, essential steps that set the foundation for the rest of the project.
Our process begins with a detailed site survey and layout. Once staking is complete, we move on to stripping — in this case, removing six inches of material to prepare the ground. The team then processes the material beneath, ensures compaction meets standards, and installs base rock to create a stable foundation.
This site is also known for its dusty and challenging environment, requiring extra attention to safety. With heavy equipment moving throughout the day, visibility can be a concern. Our crews prioritize looking out for one another, staying clear of active equipment zones, and keeping communication strong at all times.
As one of our field leads shared, “Out here, you need grit. Safety, quality, and production — in that order. You’ve got to build that bond with your team. Once that bond is built, anything is possible.”
The Luna Solar Site is a great example of how CBI teams come together to build with precision, safety, and camaraderie, turning an untouched landscape into a hub for renewable energy.
